Hagiographer EVANGELIA PSALTAKIS was born in Crete, Greece. After finishing her studies in various Byzantine Art studios she is now working as an hagiographer for more than 12 years.
In an effort to preserve the traditions of a civilization that is still resisting the challenges of the present time. Evangelia Psaltakis is deeply influenced by the illustrative variety of the Cretan School and its motives, where artists were enriching their paintings with borrowed details from the Italian Art.
She has already exhibited her work five times so far and many of her icons can be found in various private collections and churches in Greece and abroad. Her icons apart of an object of respect and worship also constitute a collective work of art beyond national or religious borders.
The icons are executed on 2 cms wood, painted with egg-tempera paint and are 24-carat gold-leafed.
